Dave’s Five Real Fun Things to Do This Weekend in Chicago (August 2-4, 2019)

Don’t worry if you can’t get in to the craziness that is Lollapalooza – there is so much more music to hear and see in Chicago this weekend.  Here are some great upcoming events.  Enjoy – the weather is going to be great and you deserve it!

Chicago Bears Family Fest

2. Lollapalooza

  • When:  August 1-4, 2019, daily from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.
  • Where:  Grant Park, 337 E Randolph St, Chicago IL 60601.

Why this is fun:  Taking over the fields of Grant Park for four days each summer, Lollapalooza is a behemoth of a music festival, welcoming an estimated 100,000 attendees to a sea of stages, brand activations and concession stands set beneath the beating sun. This year, pop princess Ariana Grande, rapper Childish Gambino, alt-rock duo Twenty One Pilots, rockers the Strokes, psych act Tame Impala and EDM hit-makers the Chainsmokers headline the main stages. Some people come for the music, some come for the people-watching and others come to get drunk on a blanket in the middle of a field—there’s no wrong way to Lolla.

Edge Fest

3. Edge Fest

  • When:  August 3-4, 2019 – Saturday 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm, Sun: 12:00 – 9:00 pm.
  • Where:  Broadway from Thorndale to Ardmore, Chicago IL 60660.

Why this is fun:  This is not a celebration of U2’s guitarist. The “edge” here is Edgewater. This year, the ‘hood hosts two days of live music and activities for folks who aren’t making the trip to Grant Park. Catch sets from cover bands like Soul Keeper and Wedding Banned, enjoy food from Edgewater eateries, sip a beer and show on Sunday at 4pm for the Pet Parade.Residents know Edgewater is a pet-friendly neighborhood and this year EdgeFest is going all out to cater to our two- and four-legged friends. In addition to our beloved Pet Parade, we have added a new pet lounge, “Bark Bark Park”.We have a new KOVAL Lounge area serving EdgeFest’s pet-themed cocktail.
